Founded in 2008, Blu Sky employs over 20 people across two teams: our delivery team of accountants and tax experts and our client relationship directors are located where ever the client needs them!

In 2018 we won Xero Firm of the year, and over the last few years our ambition to grow nationally from our base in the North East as gathered momentum. We are looking to hire talented individuals that will help it continue.

The Role

You will report to our Tax Team Leader, your role will be at the core of our services delivered to our clients.

Day to day you will ensure top quality service is delivered to all clients throughout our tax team, this could be through corporation tax and R&D, which will be the bulk of your role, however from time to time may also include (S)EIS, EMI Schemes, Company Valuations or Personal Tax Advice.


This role delivers all corporation tax returns within client deadlines, as well as ensuring our clients can continue to achieve their high growth aspirations in the most tax efficient manner utilising any additional tax planning needed. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Corporation tax returns
  • R&D claims
  • Capital gains tax calculations
  • (S)EIS 1 and 3 forms
  • EMI Scheme Creation and maintenance
  • Company valuations
  • Participation in OKR projects
  • Reviewing personal tax returns
  • Reviewing other tax work


  • Xero tax
  • Digital tax
  • Income tax
  • R&D
  • Capital gains tax reliefs
  • Resident/Domicile Considerations
  • (S)EIS company considerations
  • EMI scheme company considerations
  • Valuation method considerations
  • Commercial understanding
  • Strong communication
  • Personal planning and organisation
  • Ability to prioritise own and other’s deliverables
  • Self research

Key Performance Indicators

The role is measured against the following KPI’s:

  • Tax return delivery in accordance to plan and deadlines
  • Turnaround and quality of other deliverables

  • If successful, the completion of a behavioural competency questionnaire
  • Stage One – Initial interview with two senior members of the Blu Sky team.
  • Stage Two – Second interview with two further senior members of the Blu Sky team.
  • Stage Three (optional) – Informal chat with our CEO
