Head of Growth

Since our last edition of Behind The Numbers, a lot has changed at Blu Sky – new team members, exciting business updates and a few promotions along the way.

We’re relaunching the series to give you a closer look at the people who keep things running smoothly, and where better to start than a catch-up with our newly promoted Head of Growth, Josh Sanghera.

Josh has been part of the team for almost five years, and many of our clients will know him from his time as a Client Relationship Director, working closely with founders on everything from strategic planning and forecasting to raising investment.

In his new role, Josh is helping to shape Blu Sky’s growth strategy while continuing to support businesses on their own journeys.

Tell us about your new role

As Head of Growth, I’m focused on helping Blu Sky grow in the right way. I’m leading on our growth and marketing, building new partnerships and finding opportunities that help both us and our clients succeed.

It’s more outward-facing than before because I’m involved in strategy right from the start, all the way through to delivery. But I’m also still very much client-facing. I still work closely with founders who are scaling, raising funds or preparing for exit.

The difference now is that I’m also bringing what I’ve learned from working with them into how we grow Blu Sky itself.

How has the journey been, moving from CRD to Head of Growth?

It’s been a really amazing journey. The role I’m in now has been shaped around what I enjoy and where I can add value.

Over the last few years, Jon, Steve and the team have given me opportunities to get involved in new areas, try things out and develop. There’s a lot of trust on all sides to allow for that, and I’ve felt supported at every step.

I’ve been able to build my career here from day one, and now I want to do the same for others. Part of my job is about creating opportunities for the next wave of people coming through, and I’m really excited to be part of that.

What’s changed since we last spoke?

I’ve become so much more involved in the bigger picture. I spend a lot of time looking at how everything connects, not just at the client level but across the firm. I’ve also started doing more fractional work for clients, where I step in almost like an in-house FD or CFO.

That means helping them build processes, upskill their teams and put financial structures in place that support long-term growth. It’s been really rewarding to see the difference that kind of support can make.

What’s one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned recently?

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned during my time at Blu Sky is how to support clients when they’re under pressure. It’s something I’ve developed over the past few years, and it’s really changed the way I work. Being able to stay calm and offer reassurance in stressful situations not only builds stronger relationships, but also helps our clients feel more confident in the decisions they’re making to grow their business.

Along with the ability to turn financial data into real business momentum. It’s what drives the numbers, not just the numbers themselves. Over the last couple of years, I’ve learned how to help clients use finance as a tool to grow, to make better decisions, and to feel confident in what’s ahead.

What’s your favourite part about working at Blu Sky?

That’s an easy one – it’s the people.

I’m a big believer that we’re in the people business. The team here are brilliant, everyone is super supportive, capable and genuinely good fun. And on top of that, our clients are some of the most passionate people I’ve ever worked with. That combination keeps every day interesting.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about joining Blu Sky?

If you want somewhere that gives you space to grow, this is it. You’re trusted to take responsibility, your ideas are listened to, and there’s a real focus on helping people progress.

No two roles are the same here, they evolve with you. If you’ve got curiosity and drive, you’ll go far.

And finally, what’s a fun fact about you?

I’ve recently developed a big love for gardening. Perennials, if we’re being specific! I’ve planted a few new varieties recently that apparently need watering three times a week for 18 months… high maintenance, but worth it.
